If gambling no longer feels controlled

Stop, leave the gambling environment and contact an independent support service. For immediate danger or crisis, use the appropriate local emergency service.

18+ and identification

The Swiss Federal Gaming Board states that casino entry is for adults aged 18 or over and that a valid identity document must be presented. The same official FAQ explains that the identity check is also used to determine whether a gambling prohibition applies.

Voluntary self-exclusion

SFGB says a player can request a voluntary gambling ban at any time, either personally at a casino or in writing to a casino with a copy of valid identification. The regulator also states that exclusions are entered in a central register and apply across covered land-based, online-casino and large-scale online gambling.

A ban is not a short cooling-off timer. The regulator describes separate rules for lifting it; contact the casino that imposed or accepted the ban rather than this guide.

Limits and support

  • Decide a money limit that does not use rent, debt or essential spending.
  • Set a departure alarm and verified return route before entry.
  • Do not chase losses or treat gambling as income.
  • Ask a trusted person or specialist service for support if limits repeatedly fail.
